Crystal Woo

Crystal Woo is a Chinese-Canadian designer with eight years of experience in animation and more than ten years of experience as a freelance artist. She is deeply interested in exploring new mediums and artistic styles, and found that animation provided the perfect space to combine these interests.

Crystal has contributed her skills to several Netflix projects including Starbeam, Hatchimals, Barbie Mysteries, and the award-winning series Deepa & Anoop. Her work spans character design, background design, and VFX, though her greatest passion lies in leadership. Most recently, she art directed the short film Rocketship Mai, which will begin its festival run soon.

After graduating from the IDEA program at Capilano University, Crystal developed a unique skill set that blends graphic design and illustration. She also spent four years at Simon Fraser University’s School of Interactive Arts and Technology, where she studied UI design and computer programming.

Crystal enjoys working on story- and people-driven projects. She is drawn to stories that explore the human condition and evoke emotion, and thrives in collaborative environments where there are continual opportunities to learn and grow.
